Autumn Update

Many hands make light work, and they bring communities together. “Let us not grow weary of doing good, for at a proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9

Multiple churches partnered with our five camps this summer to help with day, family, and youth programs and were a vital part in enabling our camps to run specific endeavors. Some of our BCMB affiliated churches which helped Stillwood with their day camps were Broadway (Chilliwack), Coast Hills Community (Surrey), Greendale MB (Chilliwack), South Abbotsford (Abbotsford), and Willingdon (Burnaby). Likewise, a group from Central Community (Chilliwack) travelled to Vancouver Island to aid Camp Bob during their family camp. Earlier in spring Mountain Park Community (Abbotsford) sent a group of volunteers to Pines for a Work Day event. There were also many more BCMB churches and churches from other denominations sending campers, volunteers, campership aid and summer staff members this past year.

We praise our God for bringing 4,702 campers to our camps during the summer of 2025 to hear the Good News and to enjoy one of the best weeks of their year! Here’s how the numbers break down:

Here are two of many stories from our summer camping season:

“One evening, as I stood in the dining hall with a young camper, he began pointing to the old photographs on the wall and sharing all stories with excitement. When he came to a picture of Mr. Potter, he paused and said quietly, ‘That’s my grandpa.’ (The Potter family have been deeply connected to Camp Likely. Earlier this year, Mr. Potter passed away, and many of our campers were his grandchildren or relatives).

After hearing his stories, I said something like, “So this was your grandpa’s camp.” The boy nodded his head, ‘Yep,’ but then gently corrected me, “No. Grandpa never called it his camp. He always said this is ‘God’s camp or God’s place. This is holy ground.’

That simple but profound statement was a powerful reminder. Just as God was faithful in the past, He will be faithful in the future. Every testimony around the campfire, every story of transformation, every memory made at Camp Likely is evidence that God’s hand was and is here and it’s so cool to be able to be a part of God’s plan this summer at Camp Likely.” Justin Ishigaki Denny

This camper’s story starts in June when she attended Pines with her Grade 9 school class on their year-end trip. She said that because of the love and care our staff demonstrated to her and her classmates, she decided to return for our Teen Camp week. It was during that week at camp that she deepened her relationship with Christ and took the step of baptism on Friday morning. She has been referred to a church in her hometown community, where some of our former staff members are pastoring. Sometimes, we don’t see the impact of our spring ministry, but this young lady is proof that the work we do there, even when it is more focused on fun than direct ministry, has a Kingdom impact.” Tim Metz

Please pray God will continue to work on the life of each camper throughout this next year. We feel so blessed and grateful to God for allowing us to help further His Kingdom.
