It’s (almost) Summer Time!
For those working at summer camps, one of the fastest times of year is from about the middle of May until the start of staff training. It often feels like a “freight train coming down the track”. Whether you’re ready or not, summer is coming and it doesn’t stop for anything. In preparation for summer, our camps have had spring clean-up parties, opened registrations for summer campers, and have been busy hiring and recruiting the many staff and volunteers needed each summer. In addition, most of our camps are currently busy with their spring guest group season where staff, students, and guests from all walks of life often experience Jesus for the first time as they interact with our team.
We are very excited to be running summer camp “as close to normal as possible” across our five BCMB Camps this year. One of the lingering effects of C
ovid is missing two years of “in-house” leadership development. In a typical summer, we have older campers wanting to be CITs or Work Crew. Then we have CITs and Work Crew wanting to come back as Junior Staff. And finally, Junior Staff who want to come back as Summer Staff. Two years is a long time in the life of our youth (and really for all of us!), and while most of our camps will have enough staff and volunteers this summer, some of our camps are still working hard to fill those last few staff positions.
One way to help prepare for summer camp is by running our #ridin4camps fundraiser. Each of our camps strives to make each campers’ week at camp the best week of their summer. Every camper who joins us this summer will very clearly hear and experience the life-changing Good News of Jesus Christ. And every summer, our camps refuse to turn away any camper regardless of their financial position. Our #ridin4camps fundraiser helps with each one of these areas.

- pray that each one of the hearts of our campers will be prepared for what God has for them specifically this summer

- pray for our directors and leadership staff, that God would grant them an extra measure of strength and wisdom
